WpF Flaty – Doc’s

Installation

Using WordPress Dashboard:

  1. Download WpF Flaty theme.
  2. Go to > Dashboard > Appearance > Themes
  3. Click on Add New > Upload Theme
  4. Navigate the wpf-flaty.zip theme file you downloaded & upload through the uploader.
  5. Click Install Now > Activate

Using FTP:

  1. Download WpF Flaty theme.
  2. Upzip theme package which you just downloaded.
  3. Access & navigate your web server to wp-content > themes (this folder contains all your themes) using a FTP client like FileZilla or any other you like & upload the unziped folder.
  4. Login to your WordPress dashboard > Appearance > Themes.
  5. Click Install > Activate.

Custom Menu Setup

  1. Go to Appearance > Menu
  2. Assign Menu Name
  3. Add Menu Items
  4. Check The Primary Menu Checkbox
  5. Click Save

You should see your menu items are appearing in the header off-canvas section.

Note: The menu supports multi-level nested menu.

Logo & Site Title Setup

  1. Go to Appearance > Customize
  2. Site Identity > Add logo, site title, site icon.
  3. Click Save & publish.

Note: Suggested logo size is : width free size & hight 33px .

Custom Header Setup

You can use single or unlimited custom header images. This image will appear every posts & pages except default home page. By default blog page will appear & this is the page where the custom header will not work.

  1. Go to Appearance > Customize.
  2. Header Image.
  3. Click Save & publish.

Note: Suggested header image size is: 1920×320.

Custom Page Templates Setup

WpF Flaty is included with some custom page templates such as left sidebar, right sidebar & full-width. In order to set them up please follow the steps below.

  1. Go to Pages > Add New
  2. Put Page Contents > Page Attributes (right side of the editor) > Template > Select Template
  3. Click Publish

Note: You could also choose sidebar option for posts listing, archive & search results pages. See the sidebar section for details.

Custom Background Setup

  1. Go to Appearance > Customize
  2. Colors (for solid color) or Background Image (for image)
  3. Click Publish

Theme Colors Setup

You could set any color you want by using the color pickers. WpF Flaty is included with some color options such as primary theme color, sidebar background, header/off-canvas & footer text color settings. So you could easily change the color preset according to your preference.

  1. Go to Appearance > Customize
  2. Theme Options > Theme Colors
  3. Change colors by using the color pickers & save

Excerpt or Full Content Setup

Display post excerpt (summary) or full content on the blog listing, archive & search pages.

  1. Go to Appearance > Customize
  2. Theme Options
  3. Excerpt or Full Content

Enable/Disable options

You could enable or disable some certain options such as lazyload & off-canvas area etc.

  1. Go to Appearance > Customize
  2. Theme Options
  3. Layload on/off & Off-canvas on/off

Sidebar Setup

You could easily choose either left sidebar or right sidebar for the blog post listing, serach & archive pages. WpF Flaty is also included with sidebar options for pages, see page setup section above.

  1. Go to Appearance > Customize
  2. Theme Options
  3. Choose Sidebar
  4. Save

Featured Posts Setup

WpF Flaty has a featured posts section where you could display posts from any of your chosen category. This section will appear only on your blog listing page. You could enable / disable this option if you don’t want to display the section.

Post Formats Setup

Flaty supports five different post formats such as Standard, link, video (YouTube/Vimeo), Audio & Quote. Follow the instructions below to use different post formats.

Quote Post: 

  1. Go to Posts > Add New > Select Quote from the format box (right side of your editor).
  2. Add description in the editor & select all then click the blockquote button from the toolbar of the editor (visual mood).
  3.  Add your other contents such as title, category, tags etc if needed.

Audio Post:

  1. Go to Posts > Add New > Select Audio from the format box (right side of your editor).
  2. Copy & paste your audio file url or soundcloud url in the editor(visual mood).
  3. Add your other contents such as title, category, tags etc if needed.

Video Post:

  1. Go to Posts > Add New > Select Video from the format box (right side of your editor).
  2. Copy & paste your video url in the editor (visual mood).
  3. Add your other contents such as title, category, tags etc if needed.

Link Post:

  1. Go to Posts > Add New > Select Link from the format box (right side of your editor).
  2. Add your text with a link in the editor (visual mood).
  3. Add other contents like title, cateogry, tags etc if needed.

Standard Post:

By default when you start writing a post it will assign to the standard post format & no actions required for this format.

Footer Setup

You could add a copyright/footer text along with your social links.

  1. Go to Appearance > Customize
  2. Theme Options
  3. Footer Setting

Image Sizes

Recommended image sizes are:

  1. Default image size: 750×415.

Translation

WpF Flaty packed with a language file called wpf-flaty.pot in the languages folder for localization. Follow the steps below to translate WpF Flaty.

  1. Go to Dashboard > Plugins > Add New
  2. Search for Loco Translate plugin in the search field
  3. Click Install Now > Activate
  4. Go to Loco Template > Themes > Click on your theme > New Language
  5. Choose a language > Start Translating
  6. Translate each line > Save Changes
  7. Go to Dashboard > Settings > General > Site Language
  8. Change your site language & save.
